Welcome from Headteacher

Welcome to St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Winchester. We are proud of our school, where children and Christ are at the heart of all we do. Our pupils and staff aim to live out our mission statement, remembering ‘Christ at the Centre'. Although these words are simple, living them out can be challenging and complex for all in the school community. We strive to achieve this in all we do.

World Book Day 2026 at our School: A Celebration of Stories, Imagination and Joy! World Book Day 2026 was a truly magical event at our school, filled with creativity, excitement and a whole lot of bookthemed fun. From the moment the children arrived, the school was buzzing with colourful costumes, inventive characters and an infectious love of reading. Across the school, pupils proudly came dressed in costumes inspired by non-fiction, sparking conversations around historical figures, imaginative animals, and scientific discoveries. Teachers planned a wonderful range of bookrelated activities throughout the day. Children enjoyed reading together in different year groups, sharing favourite stories amongst each other in the sun. Our school also took part in a country-wide interactive live lesson hosted by the BBC, where we all enjoyed thinking about our personal reading 'vibe' and learning about how our friends like to read too. Children also spent time making books filled with their favourite book characters and becoming 'book detectives' in our wonderful school library. We finished the day with an assembly where we heard extracts from teachers' favourite books, joining in with much zest! A huge thank you goes out to all staff for their creativity and hard work in making the day so special, and to families for supporting the children's fantastic costumes and enthusiasm. World Book Day once again reminded us of the joy and importance of reading, and we look forward to continuing to nurture a lifelong love of books across the school.
